Catamaran Whale & Dolphin Watching

When: Friday, September 4th at 10:00AM (Local Time)

Where: Magic Dolphin Praca do Povo, Av. Do Mar, São Martinho, 9000-900 Funchal, Portugal

How do I get there? To get to the Magic Dolphin welcome kiosk, its a 4 min Bolt ride or a 20-25 minute walk from Savoy Palace.

What to know about the catamaran ride:

  • Please arrive by 10:00AM, this is a 3 hour trip.
  • Make sure to have a light breakfast before the trip. Lunch is not provided.
  • One complimentary drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) is included, and additional drinks can be purchased during the trip.
  • There is a single bathroom located below deck.
  • At the end of the tour, there is an opportunity to swim in the Atlantic. If you would like to participate, please wear your swimsuit.

What to bring:

  • Sunglasses, a sun hat, and reef-safe sunscreen, water bottle, swim wear and towel optional.
  • Motion Sickness: Dramamine, or ginger chews/Sea-Bands taken before boarding.

Welcome Dinner at Nini Design Centre

When: Friday, September 4th at 6:00PM (Local Time)

Where: Estrada da Pontinha, Forte de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, 9000-726 Funchal, Portugal

How do I get there? To get to the Nini Design Centre, its about a 4 minute Bolt ride or about a 5-10 minute walk from Savoy Palace. The elevator up to the restaurant is on the northeastern corner of the building.

Dress code and what to expect:

  • Festive casual
    • For men that might be chinos, a light shirt, and a dinner jacket.
    • For women that might be summer cocktail attire.
  • Dinner service will begin promptly at 6:30PM, local time. Alcoholic beverages are included.
  • Nighttime temperature lows in early September can drop to 64°F (18°C)– 67°F (19°C). Please bring additional layers if required.

Hindu Ceremony: Savoy Palace Terreiro Garden

When: Saturday, September 5th at 10:00AM (Local Time)

Where: R. Imperatriz Dona Amelia 107, São Martinho, 9004-542 Funchal, Portugal

How do I get there? If you’re staying at Savoy Palace, descend on the elevators or circular staircase to the pool level. From there head to the eastern side of the pool. There is a land bridge covered in vines that crosses over Rua Imperatriz D.ª Amélia. Terreiro Restaurant can be found right across the bridge, and down the steps.

There is also a separate entrance from street level on Rua Imperatriz D.ª Amélia.

What to expect:

  • If this is your first Hindu wedding, welcome!
  • The ceremony is a joyful celebration filled with meaningful traditions and blessings including prayers, exchange of flower garlands, and offerings into a sacred fire that represent our commitment and the joining of our families.
  • The ceremony will be performed by a Hindu priest in both Sanskrit with explanations in English, and will last approximately 60-75 minutes.
  • Traditional Indian lunch in a buffet style will be served immediately after. There will be no alcohol served at this time.

What to wear:

  • Traditional Indian clothing is welcome but not required. Colorful attire is encouraged!
    • Men can wear a traditional Indian kurta, or semi-formal/business clothing.
    • Women can wear a traditional Indian sari or lehenga, or semi-formal dress wear.
  • Expected weather in early September midday is on average 77°F (25°C)–79°F (26°C), feeling pleasantly warm.
  • While there are some shaded areas, the sun will be over us during the ceremony. Sun protection is recommended.

Western Ceremony and Party: Savoy Palace Skybar (16th & 17th Floor)

When: Saturday, September 5th at 6:00PM (Local Time)

Where: Av. do Infante 25, São Martinho, 9004-542 Funchal, Portugal

How do I get there? To get to the Galaxia Skyfood/Skybar, take the main elevators in Savoy Palace up to the 16th floor. There is also a separate entrance directly to the rooftop from the street at the address shown above.

What to expect:

  • The western ceremony will in the Solarium on the 17th floor of the hotel. Get off at the 16th floor and walk toward the Skybar, and ascend the stairs to the upper deck.
  • The ceremony with vows should take no longer than 30 minutes.
  • Cocktail reception with canapés (appetizers) to follow on the 16th floor.
  • Dinner will be held inside at the Galáxia restaurant with dancing to follow.

What to wear:

  • The dress code is formal / cocktail party attire.
  • Nighttime temperature lows in early September can drop to 64°F (18°C)– 67°F (19°C).
  • This part of the venue will have both inside and outdoor areas to enjoy.
