Travel & Entry Requirements
Do I need a passport or visa?
All guests will need a valid passport. U.S. passport holders do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Portugal. Guests traveling from outside the U.S. may require a Schengen visa depending on their country of citizenship. Be sure to check travel requirements well in advance!
Your passport must be valid for at least three months (90 days) beyond your planned departure date to enter the country.

What airport should I fly into?
Funchal (FNC) is the final destination. Most international flights connect through Lisbon (LIS). From Lisbon, you will take a short ~1 hour connecting flight to Madeira Airport (FNC). Madeira Airport is located about 20–30 minutes from central Funchal.
For those coming in the northeast USA, United Airlines operates seasonal direct flights from Newark (EWR) to Madeira (FNC) starting in June through September. These flights run three times a week—specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, one flight per day, with a flight time of approximately 6 hours and 50 minutes.
